Snapshots | Our data
Conviva sees over 4 billion streams a month, all over the world and for some of the greatest content companies around. Because we monitor the entire video ecosystem, for every viewer we have the most detailed and complete vantage point when it comes to viewer patterns, behaviors and shifts in digital media. Here is just a small sample of the industry trends we see.

Viewers Tune Out in the Blink of an Eye
Nov 07, 2012
Viewers want instant gratification. When a video is slow to start viewers are quick to bail. What's worse, many times those viewers won't give you a second chance and you've lost them....

It’s Crystal Clear
Nov 5, 2012
In the U.S., only 40% of online video is viewed in HD (> 1 Mbps sustained stream), but content companies using Conviva's Precision Video consistently deliver an HD experience to 85% of their viewers. By personalizing each and every viewer's experience, Conviva ensures the best experience... every time.

Uninterrupted Viewers Watch 240% More Live
Oct 20, 2012
When your brand, audience and sponsors are on the line, every second counts! It’s especially true during live events. There is no second chance! During live events, viewers will watch 240% longer when they don’t experience any interruptions. The impact of a bad experience is obvious, and it happens more often than you might think. Nothing is worse than video stopping to buffer at that critical moment–like in the middle of Usain Bolt’s amazing victory in the men’s 100-meter race at the 2012 Olympics. Yep, it happened, and hundreds of people took to Twitter to gripe spawning the hashtag #nbcfail.

Bitrates Rising, Interruptions and Buffering Increasing Too
October 15, 2012
Over the last year, the industry average for bitrate delivered has been steadily increasing. A clear sign that content providers recognize consumers’ demand for a television-like viewing experience. The bad news is, pushing higher resolution videos doesn’t always result in a better experience. With higher resolution video comes increased interruptions and buffering. Conviva reverses this trend and allows content providers to deliver higher quality videos while lowering buffering.

How Do You Stack Up?
October 8, 2012
Good streaming takes two things: high definition picture and minimal buffering. Conviva classifies "good" sites as those that deliver higher definition video to over 60% of their viewers and less than 10% of streams are impacted by buffering. Do you know how you stack up?

Good, Bad and Ugly
October 1, 2012
If you define a high quality viewing experience as free from interruptions like buffering and stuttering, you may be surprised to know that just 28% of premium content websites fit into that category. Upon evaluating more than 1,000 websites we found that less than a third of all sites consistently deliver a high quality viewing experience (delivering higher definition (> 1 Mpbs) video to more than 60% of their viewers and less than 10% of all streams impacted by buffering).
