Conviva Integrates Per-Viewer Video Performance Data and Preemptive Optimization for CBC

Conviva, the global leader in video stream optimization, announced today the integration of its preemptive optimization and per-viewer, performance analytics for Canada’s national broadcaster, CBC.

The innovative integration comes as consumer demand for a seamless and consistent TV experience on any device, at any time is at an all time high. Meanwhile, the technical challenge of delivering TV over IP devices has never been greater. This new solution will provide CBC with the most in-depth view into what individual viewers are seeing and how content is performing for them. Additionally, it will take action to improve the delivery of every stream to avoid quality degradations and outages. CBC will integrate analytics inside their control room, allowing them to monitor the user experience 24/7.

The agreement with CBC and Conviva adds Conviva’s flagship preemptive adjustment product, Precision Video, and also provides instant visibility with its analytics offering, Insights.

“Providing a quality experience online, one that properly reflects the premium content and brand of CBC, is imperative for our success,” explains Rob Fullerton, Platform Product Manager, CBC. “Real-time visibility and providing exceptional video quality without buffering and stuttering is important to our brand and our viewers, and Conviva provides a solution for these challenges.”

Conviva’s Precision Video utilizes the real time, per-viewer intelligence and develops advanced algorithms to foresee how a viewer’s local environment and the Internet at large will affect their picture quality and viewing experience.

“We are delighted to expand our global presence and support one of Canada’s largest providers who is delivering the quality experience viewers expect and deserve in a TV Everywhere society,” said Darren Feher, CEO, Conviva. “The only way to protect viewers from the volatility of an IPTV offering is a preemptive solution, everything else is too late, as viewers have already been impacted by poor quality.”

Conviva data reveals that in the U.S. alone, roughly 60% of all streams experience quality degradations and viewers watch 250% more when they have an optimal experience with fast startup, little buffering and a high sustained bitrate.
